Jamie Burr is the chief sustainability officer for the National Pork Board. Jamie leads the organization’s six-member sustainability team comprised of public health, animal welfare and environmental experts tasked with advancing the pork industry’s sustainability goals and protecting pork producer’s freedom to operate.

Background

Before joining the NPB in March 2023, Jamie worked in numerous sustainability and environmental roles at Tyson Foods for nearly 24 years.  

Jamie has served on several state and national policy workgroups and industry committees, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Federal Advisory Committee. Outside of his role with NPB, he is currently a commissioner with the Natural Resources Division of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.  

Education

Jamie holds two degrees from Missouri State University, including a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy and a Master of Natural and Applied Science degree in Soil Science.

Industry Involvement

Born and raised in the pork industry, Jamie started showing pigs at a young age, and worked at a feeder pig sale barn his great-uncle, grandfather, and uncle owned for nearly 50 years in southern Missouri. 

Jamie and his wife, Joella, live in Farmington, AR. They spend most of their time at a gymnasium, dance studio, or a ball field chasing their five children’s activities.
