New NPB CEO David Newman outlines his focus for the next 100 days and how the Pork Checkoff is working toward long-term industry success.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. David Newman is the chief executive officer (CEO) for the National Pork Board, where he leads Pork Checkoff-funded promotion, research and education projects on behalf of the nation’s 60,000 pork producers. Before serving as CEO, Newman led the NPB market growth team on projects related to international and domestic demand, health and nutrition.
Prior to his employment with NPB, he had a successful academic career as a professor at North Dakota State University and Arkansas State University, serving as a leader in the meat science and swine research programs.
Newman is a past president of the NPB Board of Directors, and he held multiple NPB committee roles throughout his career. In addition to his role as CEO, Newman also raises pigs. He is the owner of his family’s farming operation, Newman Farm Heritage Berkshire Pork.
